Working with photos and images on Windows Vista

Having trouble sorting out your precious digital photographs? Windows Photo Gallery to the rescue. Easily sort your photos according to various parameters, such as the dates they were taken, textual tags, or ratings. Even better - enter a search term and get instant results!

With Windows Photo Gallery, getting your photos to your hard drive is easier than ever before. You can now spend more time taking better pictures, instead of wondering how to get them off your camera without going through a complicated process. Windows Photo Gallery comes with Windows Vista, so there's nothing to download.

All you have to do now is to plug in your camera or memory card (containing images and photos), and let Windows Photo Gallery do the job. It is that easy!

So now we've gotten our photos onto our computer, thanks to Windows Photo Gallery. The folks at Microsoft are always working hard on adding new features to Windows Vista. The successor to Windows Photo Gallery is Windows Live Photo Gallery, which you can download today, free! Apart from new "photo fixing" features, Windows Live Photo Gallery now works with flickr. Here's a walkthrough!

First, click on the Publish button on the Windows Live Photo Gallery toolbar. Select Publish on Flickr from the flyout menu. If you do not see this menu option, you may need to set things up from the More Services submenu.

Next, let flickr know that you want to use Windows Live Photo Gallery to upload photos into your gallery. Your web browser opens, and loads the flickr website.

Here's where the fun starts! Select the image(s) that you wish to publish. Click on the Publish button on the Windows Live Photo Gallery toolbar. Select Publish on Flickr from the flyout menu.

Click on the Publish button... and we're done!

Be the director with Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker

Video enthusiasts and budding video-buffs can now portray their talent right in the comfort of their chairs! With the new WMV-HD format, it is possible to make higher quality videos - up to full HD (1920x1080).

Windows Movie Maker works hand in hand with Windows Photo Gallery. Imported videos are added to the Videos folder and can be managed within Windows Photo Gallery. Videos, like photographs, can be previewed, rated, and tagged.

What does it take to author a DVD in Windows Vista? Nothing more than a few mouse clicks (or drag-and-drops, if you prefer) in Windows DVD Maker. Pop in a blank DVD into your burner, indicate the content you wish to include on the DVD, select a theme for the menus, and press Burn. It can't get any easier than this!
